Textured Paste Stencilled Design with Glitter

Apply textured paste through stencils to create dimensional, tactile designs. Add glitter and embellishments while the paste is still wet for a sparkly, mixed-media finish.

Step by step

1. Place a stencil on white card stock. ▶ watch 45:00
2. Apply white textured paste (sand, flaky, beads, or crackle) through the stencil using a palette knife. ▶ watch 45:15
3. Remove the stencil carefully while the paste is still wet. ▶ watch 45:30
4. Sprinkle chunky glitter onto the wet paste, focusing on one section if desired. ▶ watch 45:45
5. Allow the paste to dry completely (a few minutes). ▶ watch 46:00
6. Brush away any loose glitter with your finger once dry. ▶ watch 46:15
7. Add colour to the textured design using pigment inks, sprays, or other mediums if desired. ▶ watch 46:30

Tips from the show

• White textured paste allows you to add your own colours, making it economical and versatile.
• Textured paste stays wet for several minutes, giving you time to add embellishments.
• You can use any stencil from your craft stash with textured paste.
