Black Card Die-Cut Silhouette with Embossing

Create an elegant card by die-cutting large shapes from black card and embossing them with metallic powder. This simple technique creates high-impact focal points perfect for weddings or special occasions.

Step by step

1. Die-cut large star or heart shapes from black card stock ▶ watch 19:00
2. Heat emboss the die-cut shapes using copper or gold embossing powder ▶ watch 19:15
3. Mount the embossed black shapes onto a contrasting background paper ▶ watch 19:30
4. Layer onto a beautiful background paper pad for added dimension ▶ watch 20:00
5. Add gilding wax to the embossed areas for extra shine if desired ▶ watch 20:15
6. Add sentiment text or leave as a bold focal point ▶ watch 20:30

Tips from the show

• You can start off gradually with just black card and one embossed shape if you're new to this style
• Gold embossing powder on ivory card looks lovely for elegant designs
