Coloured Dalmatian Character with Gel Pen Details

Stamp and colour a dalmatian character using alcohol markers, adding subtle shading and white gel pen highlights. This quick colouring technique demonstrates how to bring depth to animal stamps with minimal effort.

Step by step

1. Stamp the dalmatian character onto black cardstock using the stamp set. ▶ watch 55:30
2. Select a sand castle or light tan alcohol marker as your base colour. ▶ watch 55:45
3. Colour over the darker shaded areas already present in the stamp design, adding subtle tone to spots and around features. ▶ watch 56:00
4. Apply red alcohol marker to the collar or harness area, colouring over the darker shading to blend naturally. ▶ watch 56:15
5. Blend the red colour outward from the darker areas to create a gradual transition. ▶ watch 56:30
6. Use a white gel pen to add highlights to the face, particularly around the eyes and nose. ▶ watch 56:45
7. Die-cut coordinating cardstock shapes to layer with the coloured character. ▶ watch 57:00
8. Adhere the coloured character to your card base using foam pads. ▶ watch 57:30
9. Add the sentiment from the stamp set, slightly offsetting it underneath the character for balance. ▶ watch 57:45

Tips from the show

• Colour over the darker shaded areas in the stamp design rather than colouring around them for a more natural blend.
• White gel pen highlights work beautifully on darker cardstock to add dimension and light reflection.
