Glittered Tree Line Autumn Scene Card

A project from our live show FUNKY TUESDAY - FREE WORKSHOP with the Awesome Sarah Gray - Broadcast 20th SEPT 22 · 20/09/2022 · watch it from 31:00

A layered landscape card featuring a glittered tree silhouette as the focal point, with a stencilled sun, torn paper foreground elements, and a coloured hedgehog character. The glitter technique creates a shimmering, dimensional effect against the autumn-coloured background.

Step by step

  1. Apply double-sided adhesive sheet over craft card stock before die cutting the tree line base layer to create a sticky surface. ▶ watch 34:00
  2. Remove the backing from the adhesive-covered tree base and place it on white card stock to catch excess glitter. ▶ watch 35:45
  3. Sprinkle fine glitter in multiple autumn colours (gold, pink, green, brown) across the sticky tree base using a small spoon, layering colours for variation. ▶ watch 36:00
  4. Burnish the glittered surface between layers of card to ensure the glitter adheres completely and becomes shed-proof. ▶ watch 39:30
  5. Adhere the tree line outline die cut over the glittered base using wet glue, allowing a moment for the glue to grab before pressing down. ▶ watch 40:15
  6. Die cut a circle mask and use it to create a sun or moon aperture on the card base, inking the exposed area with fossilized amber and wild honey distress oxides. ▶ watch 43:00
  7. Place the autumn days stencil over the sun aperture and stencil in wild honey ink to add word details within the circle. ▶ watch 44:15
  8. Blend peeled paint or rustic wilderness green distress oxide behind the trees using a blending brush to create shading and depth. ▶ watch 45:00
  9. Tear strips of patterned paper from the paper pad in brown and yellow tones, tearing away from you to minimise white core showing. ▶ watch 46:15
  10. Glue torn paper strips to the card base in layers, applying glue only at the top edge to allow layering underneath. ▶ watch 50:00
  11. Ink the edges of the layered paper strips with archival ink to define and finish the landscape layers. ▶ watch 51:00
  12. Adhere foam tape to the back of the glittered tree die cut and position it in front of the moon to create dimension. ▶ watch 52:15
  13. Stamp, colour, and adhere a hedgehog character to the foreground of the card as a final focal point. ▶ watch 53:45
