Interactive Pocket Album with Hinged Flaps

A handmade giftable album made from a single 12x12 sheet of cardstock, featuring multiple interactive pockets created by scoring and folding. The design allows you to tuck tags, photos, or small gifts into various openings, making it a personalised keepsake.

Step by step

1. Take a 12x12 sheet of cardstock and score a line at the halfway point (6 inches) lengthwise using a scoreboard. ▶ watch 14:15
2. Fold the card in half along the score line to create a hinge. ▶ watch 14:45
3. Score additional lines at 3 inches and 2 inches from the fold to create multiple pocket sections. ▶ watch 15:00
4. Cut from the folded edge up to each score line using scissors, stopping at the line to avoid cutting through. ▶ watch 15:30
5. Fold each cut section outward to reveal pockets on both sides of the card. ▶ watch 16:00
6. Adhere the pockets in place using tape or glue along the sides, leaving the openings free for inserting items. ▶ watch 16:30
7. Decorate the front and back covers with patterned paper or toppers from your paper pad if desired. ▶ watch 17:00

Tips from the show

• You can insert tags, photos, or small items sideways through the pocket openings for added interactivity.
• Don't worry about precise measurements—eyeballing the score lines works just as well.
• If a pocket feels too tight, use scissors to taper the edges and remove bulk for a smoother fit.
